Patients with minor injuries – MIUs can be a quicker alternative to A&E
December 2014
Patients with urgent health conditions are being reminded that Shropshire’s four Minor Injuries Units are open across the New Year period.
The MIUs are normally a quicker alternative to A&E for anyone suffering from a range of minor conditions including cuts and lacerations, bites, foreign bodies in the eyes, nose and ears, wound infections, assessment of fractures, minor head injuries and burns.
And the MIU in Oswestry is open for longer than normal hours from now until January 4.
Dr Caron Morton, Clinical Accountable Officer for Shropshire CCG said: “A&E is for people with serious and potentially life threatening injuries and illnesses. This means people with lesser conditions will take longer to be seen.
“Our MIUs specialise in minor conditions and therefore you will normally be seen more quickly than at A&E.”
